Lars Thrane A/S is looking to hire a skilled software engineer, well experienced in developing embedded software (Linux, RTOS), to join our growing software engineering team in Holte, Denmark.

You will have the opportunity to help design and create world leading satellite and radio communication products in a company where innovation, initiative and drive thrives in a collegial atmosphere.

Job description

You will take part in all phases of the products’ life cycle, including design of the hardware, choice of SoC, operating system, libraries, etc., while also working together with other engineering domains (Mechanics, Hardware, Production).

Working in a small software team developing complex products touching many technologies, you will take responsibility for part of the hardware, and a growing number of software components you design, integrate and implement from scratch. Sometimes you will work independently on tasks while having daily sparring with your colleagues, other times you will work in close collaboration.

The many very different tasks are split in the team based on interests, skills and experience. Here are some technical areas you may work with:

• Board bring-up, bootloader, device drivers, Linux, RTOS, Bare metal

• RS-422, Ethernet, USB, Bluetooth, WiFi, G.hn

• Networking (SLIP, PPP, PPPoE, VLAN, IGMP, DHCP, DNS, NAT, Firewall, Bridging, Routing, etc.)

• USART, I2C, I2S, PCM, SPI, GPIO, ADC, DAC

• Audio (Codec, Vocoder, Echo canceller, Audio mixer, SIP, RTP, PABX)

• Iridium Satellite Modems (Voice, Data, SMS, RUDIC, GMDSS, MSI, SAR, SSAS, LRIT)

• Radio Modems (MF, VHF, Radiotelephony, DSC, VDES, MSI, SAR)

• Security, Certificates, Encryption

• User Interface (GTK, LVGL), Web server (HTTPS, LUA, JavaScript, CSS)

• GCC, Tool-chain, Buildroot

• ARM Cortex-M (i.MX, STM32)

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• 6+ years of professional experience in embedded Linux and/or RTOS environments.

• In-depth knowledge of embedded systems and hardware-software integration.

• Well developed problem-solving, analytical, and technical troubleshooting skills.

• Strong proficiency in C, C++ programming languages.

• Ability to work efficiently independently, and also in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Capable of learning new technologies and acquire new skills quickly.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing Linux user space applications, device drivers, kernel modules.

• Experience writing software interfacing USART, I2C, SPI, ADC, and DAC controllers.

• Theoretical knowledge and practical experience with IP networking and protocols.

• Knowledge of I2S, Audio Codecs, AGC, and Echo canceler.

• Familiar with ARM architecture and Cortex-M processors.

• Familiar with modern software development tools and automated testing.

• Understanding of multithreading, synchronization, and real-time systems.

Lars Thrane A/S was founded summer 2014. The company develop and produce maritime navigation and communication equipment for both professional and leisure marine vessels. It is the strategy and goal to develop and produce best in class products for the world market. Since the first day, we have continuously been expanding our R&D department in pace with new product development, and our production department due to increasing demand.
